October 2025 presented a complex energy market landscape characterised by pronounced regional price disparities. New South Wales recorded the highest average spot price at $77.02/MWh, whilst a wet Tasmania maintained the lowest at $24.55/MWh, creating price spreads exceeding $50/MWh between Regions. All Regions recorded lower October 2025 prices compared to their Year-to-Date 2025 averages, with Tasmania showing the largest deviation at 77% below its Year-to-Date average of $105.22/MWh.
Negative pricing events reached substantial levels across the National Electricity Market, with South Australia recording 43.5% of trading intervals below zero, Victoria 38.9%, Queensland 30.6%, NSW 24.3%, and Tasmania 12.8%.
Demand patterns showed healthy year-on-year growth in most Regions, with Queensland leading at 6.95% increase, South Australia achieving 8.50% growth, NSW recording 2.67% growth, and Victoria showing 6.94% increase, whilst Tasmania experienced a 4.50% decline.
