July 2025 spot market conditions reflected strong pricing in SA and TAS, and more moderate pricing in the other Regions. SA also dominated FCAS costs for the month which were the highest SA FCAS costs since Nov-22, and the second highest in SA’s history. Gas markets operated within normal ranges.

Average Prices: Average electricity spot prices for July 2025 demonstrated significant regional price differentiation. South Australia led with $164.95/MWh, representing almost double Queensland and Victoria coincidently at the same price of $82.13/MWh. Meanwhile NSW achieved $96.95/MWh while Tasmania averaged $117.85/MWh.
When compared to prices of July 2024, all Regions decreased. QLD‘s July 2025 average price of $82.13/MWh was similar to July 2023 of $77.27/MWh, but far less than July 2024 of $119.06/MWh.
